1. Basic Geometry
Answer: segment AC = 10 cm
By recalling that the two diagonals of a rectangle are equal in length, we get
AC = BD
Since BD is a radius of the circle,
BD = 10 cm
Therefore,
AC = 10 cm

2. Day ja vu
Answer: Every month has 28 days
You have to experience 28 days first before you get to experience the 29th, 30th and 31st day of every month.:p

3. Light-years
Answer: 4.8 light-years
The light-year is a measure of distance, not time. So whatever speed you shift into, the distance that you have to travel from Earth to Jadarite remains the same.

4. Matchstick Mishap
Answer:

To make the fish face to the right would require you to move four matchsticks. However, the direction states that you have to move three matchsticks to make the fish face the other direction. Thus, making the fish face upwards or downwards in three moves would not be impossible.

5. Cake Mistake
Answer: Louie
In solving this kind of problem, keep in mind that only one person is lying. One at a time, you have to assume the truth in one person's statement. Then, check if the two other statements both agree with the first statement.

Let's take a look again at the brothers' statements:

Ed: "I'm sorry I ate your cake. But it was sooo good!"
John: "I didn't eat your cake, but I saw Ed finish it within a minute!"
Louie: "Don't look at me, John and I had no bite of your cake."

If Ed is lying, then this would mean that John is also lying. As I said earlier, there should only be one liar. If we assume that John's statement is false, then this would falsify both Ed and Louie's statements. This then leaves us to Louie's statement. If we assume that his statement is false, then both Ed and John would be right. By now, maybe you've realized that Ed is not the only culprit. It can then be concluded that John did not eat Anne's cake, but both Ed and Louie did.
